چکیده

Abstract Metal pollution in aquatic environment of coal mines is serious concern and requires to be dealt with maintain sustainable mining practices. The spatio-temporal variation metal surface water Talcher coalfield area were determined by using multivariate statistical techniques indices. A total 56 samples collected analyzed for Fe, Zn, Cu, Cd, Pb, Co, Se, As, Hg, Cr, Ni, Mn, Al pre-monsoon monsoon season. Spatial distribution maps prepared so that the quality could easily recognized. High values Heavy Pollution Index (HPI), Degree Contamination (Dc), Evaluation (HEI) observed 3%, 6%, 0% 1%, 3% monsoon. Sewage Treatment Plants (STP), Effluent (ETP), Mine Discharge (MDTP) found have low moderate efficiency treating metals. HPI streams rivers higher than season possibly due dilution effect caused intense rain downstream was noted upstream indicating mine effluent discharge. average concentrations exceeded permissible drinking limits set WHO (WHO, Guidelines drinking-water quality, World Health Organization, Geneva, 2011) BIS (BIS (2012) Drinking specifications 2nd revision. Bureau Indian standards (IS 10500: 2012). New Delhi. ftp://law.resource.org/in/bis/S06/is.10500.2012.pdf ). Analysis Variance (ANOVA) revealed significant seasonal ( p < 0.05) Fe concentration between Principal Component (PCA) identified major sources such as earth’s crust geological formation region, activities, industrial pollution, vehicular emission burning. Cluster analysis (CA) 19 moderately polluted sites, 6 highly 3 very sites 1 severely site around area. This study useful formulating mitigation plan enhance which affect organism well human health.
